An old shepherd lives his last days in a quiet medieval village perched high on the hills of Calabria, at the southernmost tip of Italy. He herds goats under skies that most villagers have deserted long ago. He is sick, and believes to find his medicine in the dust he collects on the church floor, which he drinks in his water every day.
planning to go Saturday evening, - it was either that or X Men - will let you know what we make of it.
ReplyDeleteSweet is the word that comes to mind but I'm sure doesn't really do it justice. It is certainly surprisingly captivating and had more moments of humour than the audience seemed to want to acknowledge. Never caught the film The Men who stared at Goats but I became one during Le Quattro Volte, becoming absorbed in their drama. Lots of slow panning shots but there is always something interesting happened somewhere in the picture. As for the "theme", well I guess that was straightforward enough and there were some lovely touches underlining the interrelatedness of the universe, but whereas you could easily get away with spending 90 minutes making that point in Calabria I'm not sure how it would work in Syston.
