The 'debate' between a Muslim academic and an Atheist Philosopher was disappointing. The Muslim man shouted much of his arguments which reminded me of Catholic apologetics based upon a very unsophisticated reading of the cosmological arguments of Aquinas. (I seem to remember he Aquinas was influenced at Islamic scholars.) The Atheist philosopher was not convincing either and seriously misread his majority young male Muslim audience. The chairing was very weak.
I felt chilled by the whole experience. It made me glad to live in a largely secular liberal tolerant society (really). The idea of rule by any religious group is so threatening.
