Queer bedfellows?

The Torygraph awakens to the threat? Or its readers' knees and hips perhaps.

  1. Interesting to see the Telegraph running this. I hope my father will be reading it after our experiences this week.

I see there's a little Europe-bashing slipped in for good measure: "...clinicians could be accused of breaking EU competition law if they collaborate too closely on services." Actually, if anything, they might be in breach of UK Competition Law, not EU law. EU law is only concerned with agreement between undertakings that affect trade between member states, not within member states.

"Andrew Lansley, the Health Secretary, said: “Clinicians support the purpose of our plans: more patient-centred care, better results for patients and less bureaucracy." Support the *purpose* of the plans? Who wouldn't? I suspect they like Mom and Apple Pie as well. It's the means, not the end, that is wrong.

... and don't get me started on "Postcode Lotteries" . If local control doesn't lead to regional variation in services (a.k.a. Postcode Lottery) then why do it? They come hand-in-hand.
